Eight people were killed in Atlanta, Georgia on March 16 in three different spas. Around 5pm, four people were killed in Acworth, and four more people were killed in two separate shootings in Atlanta less than an hour later.
The majority of the victims were Asian women, and the foreign ministry of South Korea told NBC that four of the women who died were of Korean origin, but their nationalities have not been confirmed.
Robert Aaron Long has been arrested for the cause of the hate crimes and shootings. He is 21 years old. He has been arrested and is in police custody.
These hate crimes against the Asian community have been increasing since COVID-19. NBC News states that there have been about 3,800 incidents against Asian people the year of the pandemic, and especially against Asian women.
