In local news, a guest speaker will be visiting App State to discuss climate through storytelling, today, April 4th. According to The Appalachian, Matt Scott, the director of storytelling and engagement for Project Drawdown, will be presenting his talk “Your Story is Your Climate Solutions Superpower: Accelerating Climate Solutions Through Storytelling,” in room 420 of Plemmons Student Union. His talk will be from 5 to 7 P.M. During his talk, Scott will be sharing his knowledge and tips on ways to get involved with climate literacy with attendees.


In state news, a man was arrested on a North Carolina college campus for having hundreds of rounds of ammunition and multiple weapons. According to WXII 12 news, 27-year-old Brandon James Bentley was arrested at North Carolina A&T State University’s campus early morning on March 26. In his vehicle, police found multiple guns, including one rife; a crossbow; a machete; a stun gun; pepper spray; choking devices; knives; a blow dart gun; brass knuckles; over a thousand rounds of ammunition; and more. Bentley is currently facing multiple charges such as multiple weapon offenses. In addition to these charges, Bentley is banned from the campus. According to WXII 12 News, no security alert was sent out to students on campus because the weapons were confiscated immediately.


In national news, former president Donald Trump will be arraigned today, Tuesday, April 4th. According to NPR, Trump will be arraigned in a New York court after a grand jury “voted to indict him last week.” It is expected that he will turn himself in to a DA’s office sometime during the day. It is likely that we will know the exact charges he faces after the indictment is unsealed, which could possibly happen during the arraignment hearing.


Now onto sports.


In App State sports news, the Mountaineer baseball and softball teams are in action this afternoon. The softball team will play a doubleheader here in Boone against Queen's University with the first game scheduled to start at 4pm and the second game scheduled to start at 6:30pm. The baseball team will travel to Asheville to take on the UNC Asheville Bulldogs at 5pm. The baseball team is coming off of a weekend series with Louisiana in Lafayette, winning their games on Friday and Saturday.


In men’s college basketball news, the champion of the men’s Division I tournament was decided last night. The UConn Huskies defeated the San Diego State Aztecs by a final score of 76-59 to win their 5th tournament title all time. The Huskies had three players that all achieved double digit points in the scoring column. Guard Tristen Newton finished with 19 points to lead all scorers, this was followed by forward Adama Sanogo with 17 points and guard Jordan Hawkins with 16 points.
