Both the governors of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, and Virginia, Ralph Northman were both threatened by anti-government paramilitary groups. Their plan was to kidnap Whitmer before the election in Nov.
An FBI agent assigned to Whitmer’s case revealed the groups’ reasonings were the governors’ lockdown decisions during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The motives behind the ploys for the Virginia Governor are unknown.
A judge ordered three of the six men charged in the case to be held without bond until trial, which delayed rulings on two defendants; and another was ordered to return to Michigan from Delaware. These rulings are only applied to Whitmer, as there were no leads as to who or why there were threats of kidnapping towards Gov. Northman.
The investigation is currently underway.
