PM News Break 10/27/21

In local news, The Watauga Democrat reports that the Yonder Mountain String Band and the Del McCoury Band will be performing at the Schaefer Center on November 14th at 7pm. Both bluegrass bands will be performing together for a one-night-only. Tickets are $45 adults, $40 faculty/staff, $25 students.


In state news, US News reports that the North Carolina State fair recorded a dip in attendance. As of Sunday, October 24th, 821,463 visitors attended the state fair. Compared to 2019, there was a 12% dip in attendance. The highest day of attendance was Saturday with 126,715 visitors coming to the state fair.


In national news, the Washingtonian reports that early voting numbers are increasing in Virginia. Virginia is having a gubernatorial race this election cycle with the race being neck and neck. Early voting has increased by 250% when compared to the last gubernatorial election four years ago. Election day is November 2nd, with the winner of the race still up in the air.
