By: Eris Lowdermilk

North Carolina is now transitioning to Phase 3, Governor Roy Cooper announced on September 30.

The change will be gradual with alterations such as movie theaters, conference centers, bars, and amusement parks that only operate outdoors, and smaller outdoor venues for example arenas or amphitheaters may all operate outdoors at 30% at an outdoor capacity or 100 guests; whereas large outdoor venues with seating greater than 10,000 may operate with 7% occupancy for spectators.

The limits of gatherings will remain at 25 people indoors, and 50 people outdoors. So far, The 11 pm curfew on alcohol sales for in-person consumption in locations like restaurants and bars open outdoors will be extended to October 23.

Currently, the hospitalization levels in NC are level and the number of COVID cases is at a stable rate.
