In local news, Boone United Methodist Church is hosting a vaccine clinic in their Family Life Center today from 4 to 7 p.m. Vaccines are free, insurance or IDs are not required. Gift cards up to $100 dollars are available for people who receive a vaccination, and $25 dollar gift cards for drivers that bring someone to be vaccinated, according to the Watauga Democrat.
In state news, North Carolina legislatures agreed on Tuesday, to increase the age of children who can be prosecuted in the state's juvenile courts from 6 years old to 8 years old. Thus, ending the state having the lowest age set by law in the country, according to ABC 11 News.
In national news, teachers across the country are gathering in protest recent bills that are targeting critical race theory and race education. Teachers in 115 cities are gathering this weekend to “teach the truth” against anti-race education and anti-critical race theory that is being proposed across the country, according to ABC News.
