CDC Creates Plan to Prohibit Home Evictions

The CDC takes action with eviction notices. The United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention has taken action with the issues of housing. For the CDC, home evictions are detrimental at this time. Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, the idea of home evictions are extremely unsafe. In the conditions where Americans are encouraged to not leave their homes, evictions are out of the picture.

The 37-page eviction moratorium ensures the safety of renters who are required to send their landlords a written statement declaring their qualifications of the following:

  1. Must have an income of $198,000 or less for couples filing jointly, and $99,000 for single renters.

  2. Exhibit that the renter has sought government aid for rent payments.

  3. Declare their inability to pay rent due to COVID-19.

  4. Attest that they will be without a home or have to move into an unsafe environment with others if they are evicted.

This is the first step, but government assistance may be necessary for the near future. This moratorium will begin Sept. 15 until the end of 2020.
