WAMY Community Action is now accepting applications for the Essential Single Family Rehab program. According to the Watauga Democrat, the program is administered through the NC Housing Finance Agency. Money from E-S-F-R will go toward helping lower-income single-family homes with repairs so they can save on health and long-term care costs. To qualify, units must be in Watauga County and owner-occupied. They must have a full-time occupant who is at least 62-years-old, disabled or veteran, or have a child under the age of six whose health is threatened by the presence of lead hazards. Applications are available on request by calling the WAMY Community Action phone number or you can fill out a pre-application online at W-A-M-Y-COMMUNITY-ACTION-DOT-ORG.
In North Carolina news, on Saturday, Salisbury police captured a photo of a man robbing a convenience store on a surveillance camera. According to WBTV, the robbery took place at a BP on the 1500 block of E. Innes Street Saturday afternoon just before 3. According to the report, the man walked into the gas station and handed the clerk a note before leaving. Currently, it is unknown how much money the man walked out with. Surveillance cameras captured a picture of him as he handed the store clerk the note. Anyone with information is asked to contact Salisbury police or notify crime-stoppers.
The Oscars are several months away, but it’s just been announced that Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the show for the third time. According to the Associated Press, Kimmel hosted the 2017 and 2018 Oscars and is excited to host for a third time stating “Being invited to host the Oscars for a third time is either a great honor or a trap. Either way, I’m grateful to the academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no.” The 95th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 12 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The show will be broadcast live on ABC in over 200 territories worldwide.
