In local news, the Watauga County Farmers Market will be entering its 50th season. According to the Watauga Democrat, the season will start Saturday April 1st and will run from 8 A.M. until noon. The market will be held at the Daniel Boone Park parking lot at 591 Horn in the West Drive. According to the Watauga Democrat, the market opening in April is a month earlier than previous seasons. The market will be open each Saturday, and over 60 vendors will be present. And stay on the lookout because this season, they will be hosting the market’s 50th Birthday Celebration on May 6th!


In state news, North Carolina has approved a Medicaid expansion deal. According to the Associated Press, the decade-long debate over this deal has finally reached a conclusion after gaining legislative approval on Thursday March 23rd. The House vote was 87-24. With this new Medicaid expansion, it is estimated that around 600,000 will be helped. With North Carolina approving the expansion, only 10 states are left without having a Medicaid expansion in the U.S..


In national news, the suspect of a recent Denver high school shooting has been found dead. According to NPR, 17-year-old Austin Lyle shot and injured two faculty members at East High School in Denver, Colorado on Wednesday, and soon fled the scene. Officials found a dead body near his car in a nearby county Wednesday night, and officials confirmed it was Lyle Thursday morning. The cause of death is still under investigation.
