From around campus, Reddish Lab is awarded the largest National Institutes of Health grant in App State history. According to Appalachian Today, a 5 year, $1.6 million grant awarded from the National Institute of Health is the latest to support enzyme research. This research has been led by Dr. Michael Reddish and could aid in the development of new and safer therapies, including cancer.


In North Carolina News, a North Carolina man wins the Powerball prize on a $3 ticket he bought online. According to the News & Observer, Michael Kidley, a resident of Concord, matched 4 white balls and the red powerball with his Quick Pick Ticket to win $50,000 in the January 14th drawing. The amount has doubled when the 2X power play multiplier hit. After taxes, Michael will be taking home $71,259. Wow, that must be nice!


In national news, AMC announces a new price system based on seat location. According to ABC News, AMC Theatres announced a new ticket pricing initiative on Monday that has customers paying based on seat location. There will be 3 tiers of seats for customers to choose from. This includes Standard Sightline (back seating), Preferred Sightline (middle seating), and Value Sightline (close up seating).
