Important New Resources for Freshmen

Updated: Sep 11, 2020

By Eris Lowdermilk

For incoming freshmen, the transition to college can be tough, nonetheless during a global pandemic. The Tutoring Center here at App State has altered their resources to fit the needs of students during this time of uncertainty.

Peer Academic Coaching (PAC) includes a number of opportunities available to guide students with their first year of pursuing a college education. Peer Academic Coaches include upper-level undergraduate students who are specially chosen to provide one-on-one mentoring and support first-year students.

PAC is also partnered with the First-Year Seminars that all freshmen have in their schedules in which the Peer Academic Coaches work thoroughly with the seminar as well as have weekly group sessions surrounding important topics.

There is drop-in support available and one-on-one academic coaching sessions where freshman can gain insight into the college experience with the help of knowledgeable peers.
