Kicking things off with our campus story of the week, the I. G. Greer Cinema is playing The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. This is the third primary entry in James Wan’s horror universe, and follows another twisty supernatural caper scrutinized by the likes of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Perfect for all your week-before-Halloween horror movie needs! Showtimes are at 7pm and 9:30, tickets are $2 at the door!

In local news, this past weekend saw the return of the Banner Elk Wooly Worm Festival! Dozens of prospective racers came out to Banner Elk to race their fuzzy friends, the distinctive black-and-orange caterpillar known as “wooly worms,” in order to predict this winter’s weather. Winning worm, aptly named “Let’s Go Brandon,” is calling for snow inside of the first week of winter, according to HCPress. Looking forward to it!

The FCC, led by acting chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel, has pledged to create a new set of rules inside the agency that would confront spam texting in a similar manner to robocalls. Here’s hoping they get them in place soon, but at least in 2021 we don’t have to worry about using up minutes!

Finally, our weather, courtesy as always of booneweather.com. We are anticipating a high of 69 degrees today, a brief respite from our cooler Fall weather, but more chilly-minded folks
