Locally, The High Country Food Hub announced it reached its milestone of two million dollars in sales, as reported by The Watauga Democrat. The Food Hub began in 2017 out of a need by farmers to sell more of their vegetables and meat. Operated by Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture, the Hub provides an online year-round market for High Country consumers. Dollars spent at the Hub are dollars that go back into the hands of more than 85 farmers and food producers. More specifically, for every dollar spent, 84 cents goes directly to producers in the community. The High Country Food Hub is expanding its reach. Customers can pick up their orders in Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk among other places. To learn more, visit ww.highcountryfoodhub.org.
