The Appalachian reports that the Dr. Willie C. Fleming scholarship has been extremely important and effective in ensuring that the diversity of students at Appalachian State continues to rise. This scholarship was started in 2014 and covers the full cost of eight semesters. Ever since the introduction of the Fleming Scholarship, statistics report that there is a “66% increase in racially and ethnically underrepresented students”, a trend continuing throughout 2022.
A fifty-year-old triple homicide case has been solved by the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office. Originally taking place in the town of Boone on February 3rd, 1972, the Durham Case involved the death of Bryce Durham and his wife Virginia and son Bobby. The Watauga Democrat states that after receiving a tip in 2019 about the case, additional interviews were done in 2019, 2020, and 2021 to finally complete the information needed to find the remainder of the guilty individuals, who are confirmed to be deceased.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Disney Plus subscriptions have now reached almost 130 million subscribers, with the actual number sitting at 129.8 millions subscribers. With this development, Disney has reported a massive increase in revenue and stock prices. With more original shows and movies on the horizon for 2022, the media giant doesn’t think that momentum will be slowing down anytime soon.
