In local news, a structure fire broke out in Foscoe Wednesday morning. According to Watauga Online, the structure was a total loss however, no occupants were found in the home at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported. Multiple nearby departments responded to the fire including Foscoe, Boone, Seven Devils and Linville Fire Departments. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and will remain undetermined at this time.


In state news, a 15-year-old girl was killed and five teenagers were hospitalized after a shooting at a Goldsboro home Wednesday. According to WRAL, officers from the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a home where witnesses said a pool party for teenagers was going on at the time. According to Goldsboro Police, officers found four gunshot victims that were between the ages of 15 and 19. Three were transported to the hospital and one died at the scene. Two other teenagers drove themselves to the hospital. Officers are investigating what led up to the shooting and who was responsible.

In national news, Tennessee Democratic lawmaker, Justin Pearson was reinstated to the Tennessee House Thursday. According to APNews, Pearson was sworn in Thursday after a unanimous vote to reinstate him by the Shelby County commissioners. The state House voted to expel Pearson and his colleague Justin Jones after their protest on the house floor in response to the Nashville school shooting that left 6 dead, including 3 children. The current appointments are interim but both Jones and Pearson plan to run in special elections for the seats later this year.
