What’s the Answer After Panthers Fire Head Coach Matt Rhule?

Updated: Nov 8, 2022

The Carolina Panthers have fired head coach Matt Rhule after an 11-27 record in

thirty-eight games; he was also 1-27 when allowing opponents to score seventeen or more points. This decision comes after an embarrassing 35-17 loss at home to the San

Francisco 49ers; who currently holds the number one ranked defense in the league

statistically. It’s hard to call it a home loss though, as it seemed as if a blanket of red was covering Bank of America stadium. A stadium that hasn’t quite felt like home since Rhule took over; as the Panthers have been 5-15 at home since he’s been there. This begs the question, what’s the answer for Carolina moving forward?

The Panthers have obviously taken a step in the right direction by firing Rhule.

Even with four years left on his contract, and forty million dollars still owed to his name, an 11-27 record is simply just inexcusable; meaning it was time for a change. So what’s next? Is Baker the answer the Panthers need? It doesn’t seem so as he’s sporting a 16.2 QBR this year, throwing just 962 yards in five games. Well if Baker isn’t the answer, could PJ be? Probably not, there’s a reason he was the fourth-string QB going into training camp, and quite honestly with the injuries to both Darnold and Corral, he’s lucky to have a spot on the 53-man roster. So what exactly is the answer for the 2022 Carolina Panthers? Honestly, no clear-cut answer will make a difference right away and save the season. The answer is patience, and rebuilding the right way; instead of being impatient and trading for mediocre quarterback’s every season to play behind a subpar coaching staff. As I said, this is a step in the right direction, and the start of a new era, a new day in Carolina, as they look to put the past behind them.
