In local news, the King Street Market will host Fall Fest on Tuesday October, 26. The activities include; a themed photobooth, locally-grown pumpkin painting, a costume contest, trick or treat and a winter coat drive for the Hospitality House of Northwest N.C. According to The Watauga Democrat.


In national news, a powerful storm barreled toward Southern California after flooding highways, toppling trees and causing mud flows in areas that were burned bare by the recent fires across the northern part of the state. Flooding was reported in San Francisco’s Bay Area, the streets of Berkley and more. Thousands of people in the North bay were without power. According to The Associated Press.


In world news, The World Meteorological Organization reported Monday that greenhouse gas concentrations hit a new record high last year and had increased at a faster rate than the annual average for the past decade despite the temporary reduction during the pandemic-related lockdowns.
