According to App State’s website, Dr. Alan Needle of the Department of Health and Exercise Science has been given “$57,349 in grant funding” by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Research and Education Foundation. This grant will go toward research on the brain’s connection to the body, more specifically the signals from the nervous system that respond and potentially cause ankle sprains. As Dr. Needle states, the first initial ankle sprain in a person’s life causes a reaction in the body. This reaction rewires their nervous system resulting in movement that makes them more susceptible to repeating the injury. Dr. Needle’s team aims to use electrical currents to help “rehabilitate” our bodies’ natural responses, a process that he hopes can be accomplished over a four-week period.

Across the nation, The Wall Street Journal reports on a potential acquisition of the popular picture-based platform Pinterest by none other than PayPal. As stated, the “talks” have only just begun. No finalized offer has been made - which if successful would need to be quite hefty due to Pinterest’s “market value” of nearly “$40 billion”, The Wall Street Journal mentions. It seems that PayPal is eager to expand its horizons and enter new markets, with this ambitious report being the most recent in a line of acquisitions starting in 2014. Few can tell what the future of Pinterest would look like under the guidance of PayPal, but it would no doubt mean considerable growth for both companies.
