NASCAR Sports Update: A Quick Return for Johnson
Jimmie Johnson has been cleared to return to racing after testing negative for COVID-19, twice. This news comes less than a week after the seven-time champion became NASCAR's first driver to test positive for the coronavirus. Johnson was unable to race in this past Sunday's event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which broke a streak of 663 consecutive races.
Johnson will make his return in this Sunday's race at Kentucky Speedway. He now finds himself 15th in the point standings, 36 points above the cutline to make NASCAR's 10-race playoff for the coveted Bill France Cup trophy.
