App State COVID-19 Update: Dining and Housing Refunds

According to App State's COVID-19 information page, UNC System Interim President Bill Roper announced on Monday that prorated payment reimbursements for on-campus housing and dining for the rest of the 2019-2020 academic year will be administered as a response to COVID-19.


As a response to the announcement, App State announced that the university has prioritized a refund process for students that will be completed in two weeks.


All payments will go through Student Accounts and any outstanding balances due will be reissued in the form of refunds. Said refunds will not rollover into the fall 2020 semester, as it could negatively impact students' financial aid packages for the 2020-2021 academic year.


On-Campus Housing Funds

Effective March 23 - May 8, all students not currently living in residence halls will receive prorated credits on their student accounts.


For students granted an exception to live in residence halls past March 23, refunds will be prorated based on the date of official checkout.

Dining Refunds

All students with meal plans who are not actively using them will receive the remaining balance as a refund, or credit applied to their student accounts.


Students actively using their dining plans will be individually offered the choice to either receive a refund for the remaining balance, or continue to use the balance on their accounts.
