T-Mo(ney): Panthers give Taylor Moton a Much-Deserved Payday

If the Carolina Panthers want to contend for Super Bowls, they must keep their star players around. On Thursday, they took a big step in that direction.

The Charlotte-based franchise agreed to terms with starting right tackle Taylor Moton, signing him to a four-year, 72 million-dollar deal with 43 million guaranteed. The Panthers were able to sign Moton, whom they franchise-tagged in March, beating the 4 p.m. deadline in order to agree on a new deal.

The massive contract extension puts the five-year offensive lineman out of Western Michigan fourth on the list of highest-paid right tackles in the NFL.

Since being drafted by the Panthers in 2017, "T-Mo" has yet to miss a game. According to Pro Football Focus, off of 975 pass-blocking attempts in home games, Moton has allowed just three sacks. His impressive 3.2% pressure rate listed him inside the top five among tackles last season.

Moton comes into the 2021 season ranked ninth on PFF's list of best tackles in the NFL.
